San Diego Chargers NFL Rivals

By Chargers Tickets Staff Writer A.L

Early Rivals

Since the beginning of their days in 1959, the San Diego Chargers have maintained an intense rivalry with their neighborly division rivals, the Oakland Raiders. Both teams were established at the same time, alongside six other AFL teams. These two longtime rivals have played each other over 100 times since their debut, but met just once in the postseason since the 1970 AFL/NFL merger, with Oakland claiming a 34-27 road win in the 1980 AFC Championship. Last October, the Oakland Raiders ended a 13-game losing streak (that’s six straight seasons of series sweeps) to the San Diego Chargers, with two touchdowns in the final four minutes. It was the Raiders’ first win against the Chargers since 2003. Overall, the silver & black Oakland Raiders hold a 56-44-2 record in the all-time regular season series with San Diego.

AFC West Rivals

But it doesn’t stop there -- the Kansas City Chiefs are another division-rival to the Chargers, while the Denver Broncos are the AFC West rivals that have been in the game just as long as the Chargers have. The NFL Rivalry games are always the hottest selling ticket so if you don’t have tickets to the Chargers Raiders game or the Chargers Chiefs game you better buy them now. The San Diego Chargers are bound and determined to beat their big NFL rival and you will want to be there to see it live.
