Minnesota Vikings Fall to Late Chargers Comeback
By San Diego Chargers Football Tickets Staff Writer: A. Hintz
The San Diego Chargers hosted the Minnesota Vikings in a game where they hoped to avoid a replay of their poor starts of past seasons. While they didn't accomplish their mission, the Chargers did walk away with a win!
Minnesota's Percy Harvin ran the opening kickoff back 103 yards for a touchdown that kept the Chargers from getting a good start on their season. On the return, Chargers two-time Pro Bowl kicker Nate Kaeding was unfortunately lost for the game with a knee injury.
Punter Mike Scifres booted a 40-yard field goal on his first NFL try, while running back Mike Tolbert caught for two touchdowns from Philip Rivers and rushing for another score as the San Diego defense held Donovan McNabb of the Vikings to only 39 passing yards! The Chargers rallied to beat the Vikings 24-17 after trailing 7-17 at the half.
Scrifes went 3-3 on extra points and booted two kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks.
